Scopes

The scopes are to attract interest on using X-Ray Diffraction to answer societal needs and to define the appropriate framework of activities where knowledge can be exchanged and inter-laboratory experiences shared along with education and training. The framework aims are: i) to spread the awareness that XRD can be the right method to give such answers; ii) to provoke the expected breakthroughs on the society and contribute to choices based on the knowledge; iii) to export possibly the XRD experience to other disciplines in order to actuate a real multidimensional network based on the example of XRD-Hypernet.

In order to reach this targets, the following is necessary:

1. to identify candidates for “Local Centres of the European Institute of Diffraction”.
2. to identify “Excellence Centres” for the XRD –Nanometrology network of the European Institute of Diffraction
3. to define a frame of cultural need, education and training capable to feed back to new knowledge demand

These targets can be reached at different steps and using the financial tools available by at the national governments and the E.U. level (IP. CCA, NoE, STREP)
